Fresh blueberries all year round, with reduced staff dependency and increased output
The challenge
Nordgemüse brings high-quality blueberries to customers year-round. As a member of the Gemusering cooperative, they work closely with other growers to share knowledge and support one another. Sismatec had already delivered solutions to several major Gemusering members, who were very happy with the results. This is how Nordgemüse discovered us.
Nordgemüse wanted faster tray sealers that could maintain the quality of their blueberries, now and in the future. At the same time, finding skilled personnel had become increasingly difficult, and the company wanted to reduce labor costs without compromising efficiency. They needed a solution that could be implemented quickly and seamlessly.
Our solution
Together, we fully analyzed their process and worked hand-in-hand to design the best solution. We started by providing a test machine for three months. The trial went so well that Nordgemüse immediately ordered a Proseal GT6, one of our largest and most advanced tray sealers. Soon after, a GT5 Twin was added.
As staffing challenges continued, Nordgemüse added two more tray sealers. To further reduce manual labor, we introduced a first casepacker for testing. It was quickly followed by a permanent installation alongside a custom Ifco Erector. Specially built by Sismation for Nordgemüse, the Ifco Erector automatically unstacks and opens crates, which are then filled by the casepacker. The system was completely tailored to their production line, making the workflow smoother and more efficient.
The result
The upgrades transformed Nordgemüse’s operations: fewer hands are needed on the line, labor costs are down, and the ongoing challenge of finding staff has been largely solved. Production is faster, capacity is higher, and the solution is sustainable for the future.
