StarCuisine produces more than 160,000 ready meals every week. Artisan in taste, industrial in scale. When the company moved to a larger site in 2022, a new challenge came up: how do you automate a production process without giving up the quality and authenticity that set StarCuisine apart?
StarCuisine works on the basis of daily orders, which makes the production process different every day. Small batches, fast changeovers and a wide variety of meals are the norm. On top of that, the company works with three different trays: aluminium, plastic and cardboard. The new production line therefore had to meet two requirements: high capacity and extreme flexibility. The line also had to be future-proof, ready for a more automated process.
The production line runs at full capacity: 58 trays per minute, fully synchronised from filling to sealing. The changeover time when switching trays is just one minute. That lets StarCuisine combine production speed with the flexibility the company needs for small batches and a varied range of meals. The total cost of ownership stays low.
Operations Manager Ronald Jansen already knew Sismatec from earlier positive experiences. The choice for Sismatec worked out well. Jansen: ‘The delivery of the line went flawlessly. We are very enthusiastic about the complete solution. And if something does happen, Sismatec is quickly on site to help.’ In a production environment where every minute counts, that makes the difference.
